During the past four years, the West Deerfield Township Board has been fiscally responsible. Yet, we have improved services, especially transportation for seniors and the disabled. We have also taken steps to better maintain unincorporated Township roads. Here’s some of what we’ve accomplished –

Fiscally Responsible Government –

• Maintain a balanced budget.

• Keep township property taxes among the lowest in Illinois.

• Township liability insurance is more comprehensive.

• All Township funds are FDIC insured.

Social Services –

• Creation of “Going Places” medical transportation program for the disabled.

• Expansion of taxi service fare reductions for seniors.

• Establishment of social services grants.

• {Established social service grants to organizations that benefit township residents.}

• Ongoing support and personal involvement in the Township Food Pantry.

• Daily well-being calls to seniors.

Connections to the Community –

• Dynamic website that showcases township services.

• Creation of “Art-in-the-Township” program displaying rotating student art.

• Participation in community events such as (1) Deerfield Community Service Day, (2) Lake Forest Day and (3) Senior Expo.

• Creation of Township Historical Archives preserving and cataloguing documents from 1850 through the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Better Maintenance of Unincorporated Roads –

• Development of plans for road improvements in Del Mar Woods.

• Institute drainage improvement projects in Del Mar Woods.

• Enacted ordinances to improve (1) parking, (2) safety and (3) right-of-way tree protection.

Other services –

• Efficient and convenient Early Voting at the Township building.

• Convenient Passport services.
